Today’s ‘Real Life Wedding’ blog is all about Donna and Matthew who were married with us on 11th May 2013.
Living in Exeter, Donna along with her family and friends arrived the night before the special day and stayed in the Old Rectory overnight. They enjoyed a lovely evening relaxing before the very special day. In the morning, everyone enjoyed a continental breakfast which included chef’s lovely fresh warm croissants. It wasn’t long before Donna and her bridesmaids were having their hair and makeup done in the Bride’s changing room at the Main House.
Meanwhile Matthew and the groomsmen were busy getting ready in the Bridal Suite- and how smart they looked too! During the morning, Front of House Manager Claire was busy meeting suppliers and briefing our super team members on the order of the day. The flowers were delivered by Poppies of Exeter, Marian Brewer delivered the cake and Martin from West photography was ready and armed with his camera. Next was the arrival of the registrars and the day was ready to proceed!
The ceremony was conducted in the lovely Orangery at 2pm with 57 guests witnessing the marriage of Donna and Matthew. St Audries Park chair covers with Sage sashes looked stunning in the early Summer sunshine. Whilst the register was being signed, guests listened to relaxing background music chosen carefully by Donna and Matthew. As always the Orangery is the perfect setting for any special wedding!
Welcome drinks and canapes were then served to guests as the photographs were taken. With choices such as Cosmopolitans, Sparkling Wine and Pimms, I’m not too sure which was the most popular!
Guests were welcomed into the wedding breakfast which was served at 4pm and consisted of a wonderful array of fresh locally produced free range produce that chef created into mouth watering dishes. The wedding breakfast was finished with chef’s delightful caramalised apple and date pastries with fruit compote.
The wedding breakfast drew to a close after the humorous speeches and gift presentations. Guests then enjoyed the long summer evening and strolled around the house and grounds. The evening party soon got under way with the ceremony of ‘cutting the cake’ followed by Donna and Matthew’s first dance and guests partying until late into the evening. Guests were delighted with a firework display at 9.45pm and dancing continued until midnight when the evening celebrations were drawing to a close and the time came to say goodnight to a wonderful wedding party.
Most guests stayed overnight and enjoyed a famous St Audries full English breakfast the following morning in the Banqueting Hall.
A wonderful couple had the most wonderful wedding and everyone at St Audries Park wishes Donna and Matthew a lifetime of happiness and success. We know we will see them again one day soon!
