Lindsey & Roger’s Real Life Wedding

Roger had wanted to propose in Barcelona, but decided it would be best to propose at home with the children present, he cooked a nice meal and decorated the table. Lindsey was in total shock – the children were screaming and shouting ‘say yes mum, say yes’……….the rest is history!

The first thing they booked was the wedding venue and on arriving at St Audries Park Lindsey explains; “It was clear to see the venue was going to be outstanding, the drive down the lane looking at the deer and taking in all the scenery. Being welcomed on arrival with a big smile and offered a welcome drink. The wedding planner explained that we could wander and then  come back to discuss our wedding and ask any questions. We knew it was the venue for us, we couldn’t wait to get planning and start choosing suppliers to make our day magical and great lifetime memories.”

Facebook was used so that Lindsey and Roger could use local suppliers and therefore supporting the local community. They were also keen to use suppliers that had previously worked at St Audries Park with  previous weddings.

They wanted to add their own touches to venue, so did their own centre pieces,  along with star lit flooring, uplighters and hired a post Box as Roger works for Royal Mail.

They had a heart shape photo frame that all guests could sign, along with the post box.

Lindsey’s sister made their cake and for the favours they decided on Green and Blacks chocolates along with a tag thanking them for attending the wedding.

They decided on Cadbury’s purple as their colour and  wanted to add some things to personalise their day but didn’t want to take away from the elegance of the venue.

“We searched online and looked at the photographers photos and reviews and made contact for quotes and offers. We choose Adam Rumble as his pictures are outstanding, he captured pictures that create a lifelong memory, they just tell a story of the love and commitment we are making, surrounded my family and close friends. Adam Rumble is highly professional, pays attention to detail working with the couple. He captured beautiful pictures, working alongside other professionals. He’s personality shines and his spirit lights the room. We would love to have more parties to have Adam present.”

Lindsey took her mum, best friend and sister with her to chose her wedding dress (for an honest opinion).  They all agreed on one dress but Lindsey  was unsure and needed convincing!  At her first dress fitting Lindsey decided on a Cathedral length veil and chose Ivory wedding shoes. Complemented with stunning heart shaped droplet earrings along with a small heart necklace.

Lindsey & Roger decided on a colour theme and searched for the groomsmen suits that could complement the Cadbury shade, the hunt for cravats started….

They chose 6 bridesmaids, Lindsey’s best friend, sister, daughter, foster daughter and two nieces. One page boy, their nephew and 6 ushers including their five son’s and one nephew.

Lindsey and Roger explained that their biggest spend included; “Attire for the day, as we had one wedding dress, 6 bridesmaid dresses, 12 suits along with shoes and accessories. We also booked the night before accommodation for 21 people to stay at St Audries Park in the lovely cottages.

Lindsey and Roger gave details of their Ceremony in the glorious Orangery; “My brother in law walked me down the aisle to the song – ‘oh happy days from sister act’. We had two readings one by my auntie and one by our oldest son. We also had a blessing after the registrar’s left by a very close friend who is a reverend in the church of England faith.”

Canapés were served on the lawn, followed by welcome drinks.

For their Wedding Breakfast guests enjoyed a Melon starter followed by  delicious Roast Beef with Horseradish Mash finished off with  a Summer Berry Cheesecake. This was then rounded off with tea/coffee and handmade Petit Fours.

The evening party music was provided by St Audries Park DJ.  A star lit flooring and uplighters were hired in from DMC Entertainment. Creating a great atmosphere to dance the night away and celebrate. The first danced kicked off the evening and the chosen music was “All my Life” by Jodeci. Lindsey and Roger chose this music as they felt it just sealed their commitment to spend the rest of their lives together.

“Clare our wedding planner was amazing, answering questions, being available to discuss our wedding plans up to the night before. Clare had great experience to advise all that could be achieved. She was fab on the day making sure all went smoothly along with being approachable, friendly and couldn’t do more to make our experience outstanding. All staff on site were amazing, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.”

When asked what was the most memorable part of their day Lindsey and Roger said; “The best thing was having close friends and family witness out marriage in a setting that was surrounded by nature . My brother in law walking me down the aisle was emotional as we have such a strong bond and means a lot to me. The bridesmaid, page boy and ushers were filled with joy witnessing the wedding.”

“If we could do it all again, we’d……”book everything again with no changes and try to slow down the time on our wedding day. We would also stay at St Audries Park for a week !!!”

After the wedding Lindsey and Roger stayed in Exeter the night after wedding and travelled to Exmouth for a week away with their children and family, 15 in total. They enjoyed the beach, afternoon tea, coast steering, along with walks and family time before returning home.
