If you’re planning a honeymoon but don’t have the time – or perhaps the budget – for a fortnight in the sun, you should consider a mini moon. Increasingly our Bride and Grooms are opting to take their mini moon here in the South West- the most favourite locations being Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. You will be spoilt with the stunning scenery, National Parks, magnificent countryside, wonderful coasts and quaint rural villages.
A mini moon can be every bit as glamorous and indulgent as a longer honeymoon, as long as you get the location right. With only a short time away from home, you clearly don’t want to spend too long travelling. It’s all about finding a gorgeous place to stay and settling down quickly for a few days of fun and relaxation.
Here you’ll find a selection of my favourite mini moon destinations in the South West of England.
Somerset
We are lucky to have some wonderful areas and villages to explore so close to us at St Audries Park. The Quantock Hills are listed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to the wild Quantock Ponies and lovely villages filled an array of local produced finest quality meats, cheese and cider.
Exmoor National Park has miles upon miles of walkways, cycle paths and horse trails, making it a fabulous outdoor area for the more adventurous mini moon visitor.
Exmoor National Park meets the sea
Quaint villages nestled between the hills and parks serve visitors with the finest cream teas as well as fine dining restaurants and local inns. Dunster is one such village situated on Exmoor, a super medieval village with an ancient castle, yarn market and a packhorse bridge.

Devon
Nestled between Somerset and Cornwall is our diverse neighbour- Devon. With the stunning scenery of Dartmoor National Park to the rugged North Devon coastline where surfing can be seen all year round! Exeter, the capital of Devon, sitting on the River Exe is well worth a visit. Or perhaps you may prefer the relaxed and quiet English Riviera. A visit to Devon will certainly not disappoint!

The River Dart
Cornwall
With the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain, you can discover tiny Cornish fishing villages, secret coves, spectacular beaches, sweeping bays and dramatic cliffs as well as beautiful moorland and stunning countryside. A visit to Cornwall must include St Michael’s Mount and Lands End and make sure you don’t go any further!
Holywell Bay
St Michael’s Mount
The end to your perfect mini moon in the south west is a fabulous sun set!!
So if you choose a south west mini moon, you will be sure of a super time!!
