Simon proposed to Rebecca on a very special day – It was their daughter’s christening and also Rebecca’s birthday. Simon asked the question in front of all of their nearest and dearest. A day Rebecca will never forget!
Rebecca started the wedding planning right away. They visited St Audries Park only 11 days after their engagement, fell in love with St Audries Park and booked the wedding the very same day!
‘We met Jade & completely fell in love with St Audries. I remember looking around thinking I’d never seen such a fantastic place to have a wedding & was so pleased we had found it. We both really loved it & whilst walking around thought how it just got better & better it was soo exciting to think we could get married there & I imagined all of our family & friends in the Great Hall. The Orangery was breath-taking, on quite a few occasions I was emotional & we knew it was the one!
We also liked the idea of having all of the accommodation on site – it was better than we ever imagined it could be!’
Rebecca and Simon then started planning their big day with a wedding planning book, bride’s magazines and a spreadsheet to keep their budget on track.
‘We decided to go for a grey & pink blush colour theme. We had the candle package inside & out of the venue, really glad we went for this. We looked at doing the wedding stationery but I am the least craftiest person & don’t have the patience. So Sophie (TJ Events) did our wedding invitations, name cards, table no’s, stands, framed seating plan and easel.’
They started looking for their suppliers at wedding fairs and found Rachel Leah who supplied the cupcakes for their wedding day.
Hair, Make-up stationary and flowers were all sourced through friends and they found their perfect band online.
‘The band we chose were the English Country Gentleman, they made the night!’
‘Our photographer was Scott Spencer-White, SRSW Photography. He was fantastic, we had a second photographer too, Adam Beale. We had a good look at photographers & really liked his wedding blogs & all the guests looked so happy & relaxed which is all we wanted. We didn’t want a lot of staged photos, all we wanted was for everyone to have the best day & we truly did.’
Rebecca stayed on site the night before her wedding with her bridesmaids in Church Lodge and enjoyed a night of girlie giggles in the hot tub before making her way down to the Bridal Dressing room to start her wedding preparations on the morning of the big day!
‘I went to a couple of places to look at wedding dresses but Butterfly Brides at Poundbury were fantastic, initially I went with my friends to have the initial look & then went with the mums to choose the one! As soon as I started trying it on I knew it was the one. It’s a shame you only get to wear it once!!
I absolutely LOVE my wedding dress, it was made by Essence of Australia. I actually thought I wanted a long sleeved lace dress like Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. When I tried it on it didn’t suit me at all, I still went for a lace number with sheer lace detail on the back & buttons going down the back. I felt wonderful!’
‘The fantastic suits that the wedding party wore were from Bakers of Bond Street, Yeovil. Simon, the dads, two best men, my two brothers & our son Harry all wore the same & chuffed we did that. They all looked amazing. Simon looked very handsome!’
Simon waited in the Victorian Orangery here at St Audries Park with his two best men whilst Rebecca and her SIX (YES, SIX!) bridesmaids made their way across for the ceremony.
‘The best moment for both of us was when I walked down the aisle to meet Simon, we both recall how we didn’t feel at all nervous just extremely excited.
Becca & Karen (bridesmaids) did a reading each, we arranged a playlist for whilst the guests were waiting & being seated. I walked in with my dad Nick, we walked in to Beethoven’s 5 Secrets & we walked out to the theme tune of the Last of the Mohicans which was a favourite family film growing up.’
Rebecca and Simon then enjoyed welcome drinks and canapes in the Great Hall before their wedding breakfast. They also did all of their group photos inside to avoid the rain.
‘The speeches were brilliant, my dad went first with some funny childhood stories & lovely words about me & his new son in law. Then Simon spoke & joked how had given me numerous ideas for the wedding which I acknowledged, noted & ignored! Then came the best men….with their screen & projector so I was a little worried but all was fine. All the speeches were very funny & they was a great buzz in the room.’
Rebecca and Simon continued their celebrations with the evening reception in the Great hall and used both the DJ included within their package and their band to complete the night’s entertainment.
‘It was everything together that made our day so special however the orangery was really something.
Another thing that really stood out were the staff at St Audries Park, everybody was immaculate & very professional in their mannerisms. They were friendly & the barman remembered our drinks when we went to the bar which was a nice touch.
Jannette Worthington was our Wedding Planner, she was absolutely amazing. I can’t speak highly enough of her, I am someone that gets & got quite worried. There was a lot to organize & get in contact with, relay information etc. Jannette was always only too happy to help with anything & she replied straight away. I got to the point that I just knew she was on it & I didn’t need to worry about anything as she was so organized. This was also from the morning of the wedding right through to breakfast the next day.
“If we could do it all again, we’d…”
Not change a single thing!!!! St Audries Park is a wonderful venue, we couldn’t have dreamt for a more perfect day. ‘
A few days after our wedding we went to Mexico, Riviera Maya for 10 nights. It was brilliant & we both had a well-deserved rest.
