Faye & Nick’s Real Life Wedding

Nick and Faye’s Fairy tale started in no other place than in front of Cinderella’s castle in Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida!

‘He handed me a Lady and the Tramp tin (it’s my favourite Disney movie) and told me to open it. Inside was a t-shirt, but it was inside out. As I was turning it right way round, he got down on one knee. I was so shocked! And the t-shirt? It said I got engaged at Disney 2015 and he had one to match!’

Faye and Nick started their wedding planning shortly after getting back from their family holiday in Florida and of course the wedding could be nothing but Disney themed!

Faye used Pinterest and Facebook to get together their ideas and inspiration for their special day. ‘I must have read every Facebook post about Disney weddings!’

‘We were really keen to have a beautiful countryside location, so St Audries was perfect! Obviously a Disney theme was a must! And we were keen to have fireworks so the fact that St Audries was one of few venues we found that would allow them made it more than perfect!’

Faye and Nick started their search for a wedding venue in Dorset but didn’t find anything that ticked all of their boxes. They then widened their search to Somerset and fell in love with St Audries Park!

‘There was just something perfect about it. It worked with our theme and it just felt so right! We could instantly see ourselves getting married there.’

With St Audries Park Wedding Venue being the ultimate location for their Disney themed wedding they went on to personalise the venue with various items they had collected from past Disney trips to incorporate the theme into each room within the Main House.

‘We felt adding Disney touches would make it feel so much more personal.
We added other Disney touches like a ‘And they lived Happily Ever After’ wedding cake, handmade Disney favours (each a different potion or spell from Disney movies) along with treasure chests, disposable cameras and icebreakers in the centre of our tables to help the tables get to know each other.’

Nick and Faye used their ‘Brides Book’ supplied by St Audries Park upon booking to choose most of their suppliers for their special day to ensure they were in safe hands.

‘Nick liked the idea of blue suits, and was interested in trying tails as something different. When he tried it on in the shop it just looked wonderful!! He looked and felt handsome and I even shed a tear when I realised that that would be the suit he’d wear on our wedding day.’
The groomsmen’s suits matched Nick’s with cravats to match the beautiful bridesmaids dresses which were deep pink.

Of course, Faye had the perfect princess wedding dress to match the theme of the wedding.
‘My dress had to be a big Disney princess dress. I always thought it would be covered in bling, but thought I’d try my dress on just in case and it was just perfect! I was so worried I wouldn’t get that ‘this is it!’ Feeling, but I really did in my dress, I just burst into tears!’

Faye accessorised her dress with a beautiful tiara, sparkly shoes and of course her something old and something new.

‘I wore a tiara I found in the wedding dress shop (I loved it as soon as I saw it because it reminded me of Ariel’s tiara from The Little Mermaid!), sparkly shoes, my something old was my necklace that was given to me by my parents on my 18th Birthday and my something new were my earrings, I couldn’t believe I managed to find some that matched the necklace! Obviously Nick needed some accessories too so I got him an engraved pocket watch and property of Mrs Parker pants! And as an extra Disney touch we wrote each other’s names on the bottom of our shoes (inspired by Toy Story).’

The biggest wedding splurge was the musical fireworks and they were truly spectacular.
‘We were desperate to have fireworks at the wedding as we have wonderful memories of watching them the evening we got engaged at Magic Kingdom. My father loves fireworks so decided to pay for them as his gift to us which made them even more special.’

‘The ceremony had to have Disney touches too so our wonderful friend Rhia read the lyrics from ‘If I never knew you’ from Pocahontas, and as Nick and I met through singing (we met at university while studying Musical Theatre) we knew we had to incorporate singing. So along with some of our wonderfully talented friend, we sang a Disney medley as part of the ceremony which was so special.’

‘The drinks and food were brilliant at St Audries Park and we had so many comments about how much people enjoyed the food in particular! We were even allowed to rename some of the drinks with our own Disney themed cocktail list!
We put the speeches before pudding to break it up, and I’m glad we did as we were so full! The speeches were lovely, Nick was nervous but his speech was so sweet, my father I think was a bit nervous too, although he tried not to show it, but his speech was lovely too. My sister also wanted to say a few words as well to welcome Nick to the family, which I thought was so sweet. The final speech was from two of the four Best Men, Andy and Pete, and true to form it was hilarious but so meaningful and we just loved it!’

Nick & Faye used St Audries Park’s resident DJ, included within their package for the evening entertainment.
‘He was an absolute star, we loved the music all night and everyone danced until they dropped! And he made sure we had all the songs we really wanted on our playlist.’
‘It was all so amazing it’s hard to pick just one moment, but we did love our carriage ride, we had a quick horse and carriage ride after the ceremony so we had a few moments just us two to let it settle in that we had just got married! And it was lovely knowing that while we had a private moment to ourselves, our guests were being well looked after.’

‘St Audries Park was just the perfect setting, everyone enjoyed themselves, there was plenty of space for everyone and everything that we wanted, the grounds outside made for beautiful pictures and the orangery was perfect for the ceremony. And Nick’s absolute favourite part was the Party Room and by the end of the night I think it was mine too, and quite a few of the guests’ Our Wedding Manager Liz was brilliant and made sure everything was perfect for us. We even had members of the bridal party and guests come up to us to say how wonderful she was and how helpful.’

Faye and Nick’s advice for wedding planning would be ‘Keep it personal and don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. If you don’t want to wear the dress everyone is expecting of you, don’t! Stay true to what you are dreaming of for your day and make sure you put in the work to make it happen, Liz might be a fairy godmother, but even she can’t do everything for you (But she comes pretty close!) And try to think of extra little personal touches, I never thought people would notice them, but you’ll be surprised how many do and how much they love it!’

Faye and Nick went on their mini moon to Disney Land Paris of course and will be off to Cancun for a well-earned restful Honeymoon in November.
