6 floral trends to see you through 2023

Flowers play a crucial part in the themes and colour schemes of every big day. Whether going fresh or dried, simple or extravagant, your choice of flowers is a great way to cement your wedding style. There are several new floral trends set to emerge onto the scene during the year ahead. Here we take a closer look at the wedding flower themes that will be huge news for 2023 and a special part of your wedding day.

1. Barbie bright

The much-anticipated Barbie film – starring Hollywood starlets Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling – is one big screen event that has been on everyone’s lips since details of its release went public. The hot pinks favoured by the world’s most famous doll are expected to influence not just fashion trends but wedding flowers.

We’ll let Jo Reason from Bloom & Wild explain how ‘Barbiecore’ will influence the colour choices of flower fans for 2023:

“We have already seen an increase in people searching for more vibrant pinks versus traditional pastel blush roses and predict the all-pink Barbiecore trend to surface around the middle of next year. Our bouquets will feature pink roses, tulips, stocks and lisianthus – and little greenery to break up the pink-punch.”

2. Micro-florals

Rustic, oversized displays were all the rage during 2022, but the biggest wedding flower trend sees beautiful bouquets and other big day arrangements become more pared-back.

Gone are the bushy, greenery-filled displays that were fit to bursting. Micro-arrangements that are simpler, smaller and incredibly effortless, and incorporate one or even two flower varieties, are expected to be popular this year.

3. Touchable textures

Greenery-filled displays aren’t a thing of the past, however. In fact, those looking to go bigger with their displays will love the texture-rich, touchable, and slightly wild displays that are set to remain a top floral trend for 2023.

Foliage and flowers will be used in equal measure to excite all the senses and create impressive displays that ensure contrasting, eye-catching finishes.

4. Gentle colour pops

You don’t have to go full-on Barbiecore to use colour well in your wedding florals. Team whites and creams with softer hues to ensure a vibrant display that’s far from neutral and simply stunning to look at.

5. Perfection preserved

Transforming your carefully curated wedding flowers into timeless keepsakes is simple with the dried flower trend. Popularised in the 1970s, dried flowers made a comeback last year and are expected to be an enduring floral theme into 2023.

Dried flowers and foliage offer the perfect way to dress a rustic wedding theme, and they’re incredibly simple to style and maintain.

6. Fungi florals

If you go down to the woods today, you’re certain to find plenty of rustic-inspired wedding flower inspiration there for the picking. However, the brides of 2023 are thinking beyond the usual wildflowers and woodland foliage in search of their floral trends.

Moss, rocks, acorns, ferns and even fungi are expected to be used widely on the 2023 wedding scene for a natural look that’s magical, mystical and utterly mesmerising.
